Don Winter, Resident Publications

In 1988, Don Winter founded Resident Publications, which has since grown to become Manhattan's largest weekly community newspaper, and was the featured cover story in Inc. Magazine as one of the “500 Fastest Growing Companies.”  As President and Publisher of Resident Publications, Mr. Winter is responsible for the day-to-day operations of each of the newspaper's four local editions, managing a staff of over fifty employees, overseeing editorial content, directing sales efforts, as well as authoring his own political opinion column each week.

In January 2002, Mr Winter co- founded Encompass Media Group, which specializes in guerilla marketing and advertising programs for national, regional and local advertisers. Among the numerous and unique products that they represent are: advertising on the side of coffee cups, casino advertising, and Broadway theatre sponsorships. In the course of 6 months, Encompass Media Group’s revenues have exceeded one million dollars. Their clients include Cingular Wireless, Remy Martin, Citigroup, North Fork Bank, Loews Theatres.

Mr. Winter proudly maintains strong ties to his community.  He serves as President of The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, which represents over 1,000 Manhattan-based businesses, and has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his continued dedication and service to the community of Manhattan, including being named "Publisher of the Year" by the East Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.

Since September 11, Mr. Winter has been aggressively working with the Manhattans Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director to set up emergency funds and relief efforts for businesses affected by the World Trade Center disaster.  He has been an invited guest at numerous forums designed to help besieged businesses, has worked closely with many elected officials in lobbying for a friendlier business climate, and has appeared alongside various politicians at press conferences where he was asked to make announcements.

Mr. Winter's social and political roles over the years have also included ongoing positions as moderator of various state assembly and senate candidate forums and debates.  For the past four years, he has moderated at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House for the Upper East Side's local elected officials.

Mr. Winter, labeled by the media as a political pundit, is frequently invited to share his views and opinions with radio and television audiences.  Most recently, he appeared as a guest member of a four-person political discussion panel on Fox News station's television program, "Beyond the News", as well as a featured guest on the Live with John Gibson
